Maintaining phone numbers is challenging. When they are required people will sometimes enter invalid numbers like “999-999-9999.” This only gets trickier if you’re dealing with international phone numbers.

In this guide, we will review how to use adq to check and remove invalid phone numbers from your system.


Impact

The invalid phone number issue can be worse than no data. It can end up in call lists, waste time, and often slips through checks when onboarding new customers.

It can also be embarrassing to track down the phone number of a long time client.


Steps to resolution

Identify Problem Paterns 🧩

Identify what causes the bad phone numbers. Luckily, adq makes it so issues can be resolved as you find them, so you really just have to see what is wrong with the phone number that you’re looking at.

Prompt the Assistant 💬

Tell adq assistant what is wrong (e.g.,”This phone number is all 9s”) and how to fix it (e.g., “Pull the phone number from the account” or “null out the phone number”).

Validate Results ✅

Spot check some of the similar records and suggested changes in the editor to ensure that it is returning accurate fixes. If you find any discrepancies, adjust the prompt and try again. Data quality ai is a process!
