Incorrect Historical Change

Overview

Even the most careful data quality practitioners make mistakes. Luckily you can pull from the history tables in Salesforce to undo historical changes.

Note: This requires that the historical tables are on in your Salesforce instance


Impact

Impact will always depend on the change. This can range from operations disruptions where key client information and service information are lost or minor details like the segmentation.


Steps to resolution

Determine Approach 🎯

The approach for reversing changes is consistent. As long as there is a history object enabled for the field and object that you’re looking at then it can be used to make the necessary fixes

Navigate to an Example 🕴

Click on a record where the incorrect changes happened. This will be where you prompt the assistant for data cleanliness

Prompt the Assistant 💬

Write a prompt to fix the data. This should come in two parts: what looks wrong for the record, how can it be fixed. Examples are below:

What is wrong: "This was a part of bulk changes in the last day on the type field”

How to fix it: “Use the history to fix the records with the previous type value”

Validate Results ✅

Scroll through the proposed updates to confirm that they meet what you’re looking for! If it isn’t correct prompt the agent and try again!
