Multiple attributes with similar functions populated incorrectly

Drowning in a sea of redundant fields? Combine them without data loss.

Overview

“Just add another field” may seem innocuous the first time, but make it a habit and before long you have similar fields doing similar functions. By using adq you can combine those fields into a single field without data loss or complex transformation.

Impact

Many version of the same field, all semi-populated is an analytics nightmare. It can make it hard to pull any insights from the data behind that field. Merging many attributes into one gives you a single place to generate insights.

Steps to resolution

Determine Approach 🎯

Which fields do you want to combine? Is there a mapping associated with the values (should adq generate the mapping?)? Are there other attributes/information that may inform population? These are all questions you should ask yourself when combining two different redundant fields.

Navigate to an Example 🕴

Click on a record that has the field that you want to use as the surviving field blank.

Prompt the Assistant 💬

Prompt the adq assistant on the problem (e.g., “The buyer field is blank”) and the solution (e.g., “Bring the decision maker and purchaser values into the buyer field. When both exist on a record then the decision maker field should win”). Press analyze once the system has been prompted.

Validate Results ✅

Spot check some of the similar records and suggested changes in the editor to ensure that it is returning accurate fixes. If you find any discrepancies, adjust the prompt and try again.
