Opportunity does not have an amount

Improve Salesforce Data Cleanliness by Addressing Opportunities Without Amounts

Overview

The amount field on opportunities is used to help forecast pipeline and future revenue. Without this crucial field, it’s hard to understand the size of the opportunities at a higher level.

Impact

The absence of an amount associated with opportunities can significantly hinder decision-making processes and performance evaluations within the organization. This data quality issue may lead to incomplete analyses, misinformed strategic planning, and potential revenue losses. Ensuring that all opportunities have accurate and complete data is crucial for effective forecasting and resource allocation.

Steps to resolution

Determine Approach 🎯

Some items can’t be filled in programatically. For this item, we are going to assume that the opportunity amount doesn’t sit any other place on the opportunity record and instead users need to enter it in. Instead of prompting adq to put in the opportunity amount, we are going to have it create tasks for every opportunity that is missing this critical field.

Navigate to an Example 🕴

Click on an opportunity that has this issue. This will be where you prompt the adq assistant to help resolve the problem.

Prompt the Assistant 💬

Prompt the adq assistant on the problem (e.g., “the opportunity has no amount and is in the awaiting decision stage”) and the solution (e.g., “create a task for the owner of each opportunity to update the opportunity. Link the owner of the opportunity to the assigned to on the task and link the opportunity to the task as well. The task should have “update amount on the linked opportunity” as an instruction”). Press analyze once the system has been prompted.

Validate Results ✅

Spot check some of the similar records and suggested changes in the editor to ensure that it is returning accurate fixes. If you find any discrepancies, adjust the prompt and try again.
